Cinderella holds a special place in my heart.

Ben Stevenson’s production was one of the first ballets that I saw when I went to the West. I had tears in my eyes as I watched it – not only is the music beautiful, but the story is full of magic and joy. Fairytales embody the hopes of people, and offer wise insights into human nature.

I’m delighted to bring this magical and extraordinary ballet to Gladstone in October.

Kris Kristofferson is now in Australia for his national tour — not of state capitals but also taking in everywhere from Gladstone to Albury along the way, 21 shows in 27 days, all of it conducted by bus. “We’re doing a lot,” the 77 year old admits, “but I’ve always enjoyed playing in Australia because the audience and I connect. We seem to have the same taste I guess. I’ve always felt comfortable there.” All we can say is - Kris we cannot wait - you've still got it after all these years… here's proof.

Watching 3500+ school kids of all ages get excited and thoroughly enjoy the Peter Pan matinees this week gave all of us at the GECC a nice warm and fuzzy feeling. It's great to see that theatre, music and talent can still move and enthral any age. Special thanks to all the teachers, bus drivers, parents and volunteers who helped keep them safe during the week. As the brilliant young cast and dedicated production crew prepare for one last performance tonight - let's never grow up completely and keep just a little magic in our lives.

The wet weather will continue today and we beg all parents collecting Peter Pan cast members to please practice a little common sense in Oaka Lane after the show. We have at least 10 coaches stacked in the lane to collect 670 school kids in pouring rain. Parents driving in between coaches or getting their children to run between coaches is highly dangerous and the last thing we want is an accident. The coaches will be cleared by 2.30pm at the latest and we ask cast member's parents to wait until they are gone before collecting your children. Please - let's not have any more near misses.
